Philips 37MF321D/37, 37MF331D/37, 715T2056-1 Power Supply Repair

We have been receiving quite a few 715T2056-1 power supplies for repair from Philips 37MF321D/37 and 37MF331D/37 LCD TVs. The failure symptom is typically that the green standby/power indicator led blinks constantly and the TV will not turn on. The most common reason this particular power suppy fails is the 2200uF 25V capacitor at location 2074 has puffed and vented or has a significantly high ESR, some of the other electrolytic filter capacitors on the secondary side of the power supply may have a high ESR as well. The 9.1V 0.5W zener diode(BZX79C9V1 is used for replacement) at location 6079 is commonly shorted, but may also be open as well. The SMD 2.2 ohm 0.125W resistor at location 3045 has opened and is usually burned often damaging the copper trace on the bottom of the PCB. Parts are available from http://www.mouser.com/.

  2. Hi, I have spent hours trying to find the problem with this same model tv and finally found pictures thanks to you john. The only thing i noticed about the 2200uf capacitor is they are not puffed or vented. however i noticed the transformer 82382773206 looks like it got to hot and having a hard time finding another one without buying the entire board. I work on mostly cb radio repair but can do tv as well as long as i know what the problem is or can find the parts. Any advice would be great. Thanks Dale

  3. Hello John,

I have the same problem as the picture shows on the web that you have posted. Well I repair those parts and it work for steady or about a year or so now when I turn the power on the pic turns on and off several time but green power led is steady speaker keeps on popping from the sounds of on and off it does it for about 10 times and it will work fine after it warms up. I recheck all 3 parts and replaced them it didn't seems to be the factor it still does it. Do you know or any idea what may be causing that. you're help is greatly appreciate.

    Thank you,

    Rich

  4. I had the same issues with my LCD tv, but it turned out that the main board was causing the same isses. I determine that the problem was due to a defective IC 7003 that drops the 16 volt input to 12 on the main board.

  5. For anyone having this same issues with there LCD tv. Please check the main board for cap 2006 1000uf 16 volt. I had the same issues and the caps on the power supply were working well. The first two pins had voltage running between 14 and 16 volts. The 24 volt was steady. On the main board caps 2011 should have % volts on the out put and cap 2006 should have 12 volts. In my case, my 5 volt line was good which lead back to the 24 volt input. That was good. my 12 was good which lead me back to the 16 volt line. That was due to a defective IC 7003
